Emerging like a sentinel amidst the sprawling farmlands of Farm Voigtskub, near the quaint town of Kalkrand in the Hardap region of Namibia, stands a monument that whispers stories of history. This National Monument, officially recognized on the 1st of November 1968, serves as a solemn reminder of seven fallen German soldiers who met their end during the Herero and Nama uprising on the 22nd of November 1904. Kub, a bustling settlement in those times, bore witness to the establishment of the first Afrikaanse school in Namibia. A plaque, a silent testament to the past, has been in place since 1953, and the monument also shelters the graves of both Boers and German soldiers.
