The hidden castle in Pallars Jussà

Built between the 11th and 12th centuries, Castell de Llordà was the residence of Arnau Mir de Tost, a right-hand man of the Count of Urgell. He was responsible for the conquest and repopulation of the Pallars Jussà, making Llordà a strategic location. The castle was donated by the Counts of Urgell Ermengol II and his wife Constança to Arnau Mir de Tost and his wife, Arsenda, for 2,000 sous. The importance of the Castell de Llordà throughout the centuries is constant. Today, it stands as a well-preserved residential palace and palatial fortress from the 11th century, offering organized visits from July to September.
