Abundant forest envelops the ancient ruin of Santa Maria del castell de

Santa Maria del castell de Salinoves is a church ruin mapped as historic, following the Lombard architecture of the time. The church is located in the Baronia de Rialb, in Catalonia, Spain. Enveloped by a thick forest of matolls, garrics, and alzineres, it is accessible from the north by a narrow path. The northern and western walls of the church still remain fairly intact, while the southern and eastern facades show signs of decay. Some believe it may have been the ancient monastery of Sant Cristòfol de Salinoves, documented in the 10th century, or the church of Santa Llúcia del castell de Salinoves, a possession of the Santa Cecília d'Elins monastery according to an act of consecration from 1080.
