Perched high upon the battlements of Sablé-sur-Sarthe, the Tour des Remparts does not whisper tales of its original purpose - a part of the town's ancient wall system. Time, however, has given it a new persona, a worn-out relic that exudes a haughty, antiquated charm. It silhouettes the banks of the Sarthe river with its grand, foreboding shape. In 1970, it earned the title of a French National Historic Monument, a testament to the town's turbulent past. Inside, the atmosphere hums with the echoes of 14th-century craftsmen - their spinning wheels ceased long ago, yet their presence still lingers like an eerie echo.
