The magnificent fountain at Plaça d'Espanya, Barcelona, was built in 1929 for the Exposició Internacional. Designed by architect Josep Maria Jujol and decorated by Miquel Blay, Frederic Llobet, and the brothers Miquel and Llucià Oslé, it is categorized as a Bé Cultural d'Interès Local. The plaza was initially an open space at the crossroads of roads connecting Barcelona and the towns of Baix Llobregat. The urban works were undertaken by Josep Puig i Cadafalch and Guillem Busquets, which were continued by Antoni Darder from 1926. The monumental circular complex around the half-circle formed by a baroque-style columnar was inspired by Piazza di San Pietro del Vaticano of Bernini.
