For over four aeons, the fantastical Palace of Bandjoun in the West Region of Cameroon has stood as a timeless mammoth, a testament to the immense history and culture of the Bamiléké people. This lofty structure, crafted by 14 of their most venerated chiefs, serves as a symbol of their unbroken lineage. Though modern in appearance, the roots of the palace trace back to the 17th century. The grand central museum house, standing proud at 17 meters tall, is woven from bamboo and raphia cords, its sculpted pillars reaching towards the heavens, a remembrance of ancient ancestors. Aspects of the palace are said to hold a museum, where the tale of the royal lineage could unfold, but the palace itself remains an indelible testament to the Chiefdom of Bandjoun, a legend etched upon the soul of the region.
