Once pride of the Brittany duchy, Montbazon's wrecked remnants now dwell on a rocky cliff, overlooking the Indre valley. Constructed by the enigmatic Fulk Nerra around the 10th or 11th century, the site experienced a renaissance in the 15th, hosting numerous notables - Louis VII, Louis XI, the suspicious Catherine de' Medici, and the enigmatic Henry of Navarre. By the 18th century, the site fell into dereliction, leaving only the keep and the chapel standing, like a faded tabloid headline of a once-grand castle.
