A French fortress - a grand manor house over medieval defences

The Château de Luynes in Luynes, Indre-et-Loire, France, serves as a manor house and a significant historical landmark. Built in the 13th century, it is quadrangular and has four cylindrical towers, two of which date back to its founding. The castle has been subject to registration as an historical monument since July 17, 1926. Today, the castle has a terrace replacing the South curtain wall, an outer defensive wall with two small round towers still discernible, and a pavilion constructed at the back of the Southeast Tower in the 17th century.
