The Battle Carved in Stone: Sueno's Stone

Step back 1,000 years to a battlefield that still tells its story in stone. Sueno's Stone, Scotland's largest surviving Pictish style cross-slab, is filled with intricate carvings that depict a violent confrontation. But who won remains a mystery, and each theory adds to the allure of this ancient monument.

Sueno's Stone stands at 6.5 meters (21 feet) in height on the north-eastern edge of Forres, in Scotland's Moray region. It is a Picto-Scottish Class III standing stone, and the largest surviving Pictish style cross-slab in Scotland. Situated on a raised bank, it is found on a now isolated section of the former road to Findhorn.
