The Two-Meter High Pictish Cross Slab: Rodney's Stone

Rodney's Stone, a notable Pictish cross slab, is located near Brodie Castle in Moray, Scotland. It is classified as a Class II Pictish stone due to the presence of a cross on one face and various symbols on the other. On the symbols face, two fish monsters are depicted at the top, followed by a 'Pictish Beast' and a double disc and Z-rod. On the cross face, a cross and various animals can be found. The stone is most notable for its inscription, which is the longest of all Pictish inscriptions. Written in the Ogham alphabet, the inscription contains the Pictish name 'EDDARRNON', which is believed to be that of a prominent Pictish saint named Ethernan.
