The 13th-century Church of St James the Great in Toledo, Spain

The Church of St James the Great, located in Toledo, Spain, dates back to the 13th century. It was rebuilt on the site of a Visigothic structure and a later mosque. The church was commissioned by Sancho II and constructed between 1245 and 1247. The church was heavily restored between 1958 and 1973, much of its present appearance being a result of this restoration. The church exhibits Mudéjar style with influences from the Romanesque style of Castile. The freestanding bell-tower incorporates the remains of the former mosque’s minaret.
