Tennessee's Agriculture Campus Gardens: Old Native Grave, Resurrected with

In the heart of the University of Tennessee's Agriculture Campus, an ancient Native American burial mound sleeps, or so we think. In 2008, Fred Allen decided to dig it up and make it flower - a funerary faux pas with a flowery twist.

In 2008, Fred Allen's eccentric proposal brought life back to the old Native American resting place. Disguised as a garden, it spared the soil from the brutal grip of construction. This mission, declared by Fred Allen, aimed to appreciate the Native American heritage. The Eastern Cherokee tribe, under the leadership of Principal Chief Michell Hicks and elder Myrtle Driver, sprinkled their blessings at the grand unveiling. As per the UT Institute of Agriculture, the garden's main purpose is to safeguard the ancient custom.
