Talaiotic temple with a star-shaped fortification: Trepucó, Menorca

Trepucó is one of the largest Talaiot sites in Menorca, with an area of approximately 4 hectares (40,000 square meters) and is located in between the municipalities of Mahón, Sant Lluís, and Es Castell. Trepucó is a prehistoric site in Menorca that is part of the Menorca Talaiòtica UNESCO World Heritage candidacy. The settlement, dating back to the Bronze and Iron Ages, features a unique star-shaped fortification surrounding the largest talayot and the taula.

Although only a fraction of this ancient enclave remains, its remnants tell stories of abrupt destruction, sudden abandonment, and remarkable archaeological discoveries. In 2010, new excavations south of the taula enclosure unearthed additional structures, including three talayotic houses and a gallery that served as a linteled door in prehistoric times. These findings, along with previous discoveries, complete the mosaic of life in Trepucó over the millennia.
