Swedish Army Museum

The Swedish Army Museum, located in the heart of Stockholm at Artillerigården in Östermalm, has been a hub for military history since it was opened in 1879. The current buildings were erected during the latter part of the 18th century. The museum was first known as the Artillery Museum, changing its name to the Army Museum in the 1930s to better reflect its focus. The museum was awarded the title of the best museum of Stockholm in 2005. The displays take visitors on a journey through the history of military fashion in Sweden, from the functional uniforms of soldiers in wartime to the elaborate attire of the royal court. Visitors can see life-size figures of soldiers from past centuries, adorned in the dress uniforms of their era, as well as intricate details of traditions and ceremonies.
