The decaying 18th-century manor at Rottneby

Known since the 1500s as a farm in Stora Kopparbergs socken, Falu kommun, Rottneby's main building was built in 1794, making it the last remaining 18th-century building, with all others demolished in the early 1870s. The manor has passed through various hands, including the Stierna family, Christian Skröder, Kopparbergs-Hofors sawmill company, Ellen Nisser, and Mikael Styrman. Styrman's plans for the nearby old-growth forest were halted by Falu commune, leaving the manor to its fate. Concerned residents formed 'Rottnebys vänner' to protect the manor from decay and vandalism.
