Sail on the four-masted Barken Viking in Gothenburg, Sweden

Constructed in 1906 by Burmeister & Wain in Copenhagen, Denmark, the Barken Viking, or Barken Viking in Swedish, is a four-masted steel barque, said to be the largest sailing ship ever built in the Nordic countries. When it launched on December 1, 1906, it reached a top speed of 15.5 knots in the Roaring Forties, where it was delivering wheat from Port Pirie, South Australia. In 1929, it was bought by Gustaf Erikson, an Åland shipowner, and equipped to accommodate passengers for 25 shillings per person per day. The ship won the Grain Race of 1948, and sailor David James recorded his adventure around the world on it in 1937–38 in his biography. Today, the Barken Viking can be found as a floating hotel docked in Gothenburg, Sweden.
