Palace of Enrique IV: A Hidden Medical History - The Forgotten Hospital

Enrique IV built the Palacio de Enrique IV in Segovia in the 15th century. Originally the residence of King Enrique IV and Queen Juana, after Enrique IV’s death in 1474, the palace did not convert into the main court seat. Instead, Isabel I settled her residence in the Alcázar de Segovia. In the mid-16th century, the western part of the palace was converted into the Hospital de Nuestra Señora de la Concepción. The Palacio de Enrique IV houses the Esteban Vicente Contemporary Art Museum since 1998. It boasts two patios, with alfarjes and painted beams in the chambers around their courtyards. The royal arms of Castilla y León adorn the polychromed staircases.
