Old Parliament House: A Century of Shaping Sweden's History

The Old Parliament House, Gamla riksdagshuset, once served as the seat of Sweden’s Riksdag of the Estates from 1833 to 1866. This building, now home to the Administrative Court of Appeal in Stockholm, was the stage for debates that shaped the nation’s direction for decades. When the new building was inaugurated in 1905, the Old Parliament House fell into disuse for a while, but its grandeur remained intact. A century later, it was repurposed for the court system. Aron Johansson added a seaside section to the building in 1911 in the National Romantic style, excitingly adding to its history.
