Hessensteinska palatset, built in the 1630s by Riksråd Bengt Bengtsson Oxenstierna, is a striking example of architectural ornamentation and holds a notable place on Marketplace Square in the heart of the Old Town in Stockholm. Already constructed by the Oxenstierna family, the palace saw a change in ownership: another noble family once called it home, and even Queen Hedvig Eleonora took residence there following the Stockholms Slott fire in 1697. The palace has since undergone numerous renovations and rebuilds, and today it belongs to Svea hovrätt. Intricately restored interiors dating back to the 1600s and 1700s are now available for visitors to explore.
