Lost beneath the earth in Linkmeny is an Iron Age hillfort (uniquely identified as MC 1962, Register of Cultural Monuments of the Republic of Lithuania No. AR176) and habitation (uniquely identified as MC 24763) situated in Linkmeny, Linkmeny Parish, Ignalina District Municipality. The site is hidden away in the forest, accessible from the Plokšinéliai-Utena road, intersecting with the Linkmeny-Ginučiai road approximately 100 meters to the northwest.
The northern slope is around 1.5 meters deep. On the northwest side, there is a 4-meter high and 2-meter wide terrace. A 0.3 hectare building site in proximity to the site reveals burned and broken ceramics. The site was surveyed by the Institute of History in 1958 and studied by the Applied Research Laboratory in 1985. The site dates back to the 1st to the 2nd century AD. The Lithuanian Minister of Culture ordered the protection of the site on April 29, 2005. The site spans an area of 8500 square meters. The visual protection zone covers 802,000 square meters.
Past visitors to the site discovered remnants of buildings and other artifacts, such as pottery and coins, that suggest a culture more advanced than one might have expected for the Iron Age. The reason for the site's abandonment remains a mystery, but it is believed that it may have been due to environmental or economic factors.
