Ancient Puziniškis Hillfort: A Mystery-Filled Archaeological Site in Northern

In the rolling hills of Ignalina District, northern Lithuania, lies the enigmatic Puziniškis hillfort. Classified as a tourist attraction, it is located in Linkmenų seniūnija, and dates back to the Iron Age. Research conducted on the hillfort by the Scientific Research Association in 1985 reveals that it was likely used as a sacred site by the local inhabitants. The oval area of the hillfort measures 18x14 meters, with an average width of 1 meter. The surface rises approximately 2 meters in height, and a 4.5-meter high, 4.5-meter wide wall opening on the north side can be found. The hillfort, registered under the Cultural Heritage Protection Code A1532 on 19 December 2005, dates back to the first millennium BC.
