Leoniškių piliakalnis, the hill of secrets, is found in the territory of Vilniaus region’s council, lost in the forest, hidden by the trees, and separate from the other hills. The oval shape of the hill, 40x25 meters, stands out, as does the 7-meter wide ditch on the north-western side. The hill is enclosed by walls that connect the two platforms found 7 meters below the surface of the hill and 1.5 meters below the 40-meter high platform. These platforms, which have been discovered, are believed to have been built during the 1st to 2nd millennium.
What lies beneath the grass and shrubs is believed to be the secrets of the hill, but is largely unknown. The hill was discovered in 1971 by the History Institute and recognized by the Lithuanian Republic’s Government in 1998 for its cultural significance. The plot of the cultural heritage site is 27,000 m², while the plot of the visual protection zone is 1,408,000 m².
