The Kurmelionys hillfort, also known as Pilalė, is built into a limestone hill and shows evidence of habitation from the 5th to 12th centuries. The hillfort's entrance, hidden behind a cave-like structure, has 5–6 meter wide and 1 meter deep ledges at the upper levels and 2–4 meter wide and 0.3-0.5 meter deep ledges at the lower levels. Archaeological excavations have revealed an archaeological layer dating back to the 5th century, including pieces of pottery, flint tools, and animal bones.
