Eternal Vigil: The Royal Fusiliers War Memorial in Holborn

The Royal Fusiliers War Memorial, a memorial in London, commemorates members of the Royal Fusiliers who perished in the World Wars, Russian Civil War, and subsequent conflicts. Designed by Albert Toft, the statue stands 8.5 feet tall and was cast by A.B. Burton at the Thames Ditton Foundry. Modeled on a Sergeant Cox who fought in the First World War, the statue was erected on November 4, 1922, in Holborn, one of the ancient entry points to the City of London. Originally intended for a Royal Park, the statue eventually found its home in Holborn, situated close to the historic Staple Inn. Grade II* listed, the statue is a testament to the bravery and sacrifice of the soldiers it honors.
