Gisburne Park, an 18th-century country house, is located in Gisburn, Lancashire, England. Thomas Lister, a Member of Parliament for Clitheroe, constructed it between 1727 and 1736. This Grade I listed building is part of a 1,000-acre estate, which, though also Grade II listed, is a mix of traditional agriculture and holiday and wedding destinations. The significance and requirements of this designation may not be immediately clear.
The Manor of Gisburne was first acquired by the Lister family in 1614, predating the timeframe of the MP for Clitheroe. Several generations of the Lister family, including one who was created Baron Ribblesdale, owned the estate. After the 4th Baron's death in 1925, part of the estate had to be sold to pay death duties.
The remaining estate was sold to the Hindley family in 1944. The house was converted into an independent private hospital and rehabilitation centre in 1985, and it became the BMI Gisburne Park Hospital in 1995. It closed in June 2021 and is being converted into a hotel and wellness resort.
