Two Exhibitions at the Haworth Art Gallery: Forged in Steam and Community Voices

In 2026, the Haworth Art Gallery in Accrington, Lancashire is hosting two exhibitions: Forged in Steam and Community Voices. Forged in Steam, a Railway 200 Celebration, showcases the work of documentary photographer and multidisciplinary artist Diane Muldowney. The exhibition investigates the cultural and industrial legacy of Britain’s railways, tracing a continuum from Locomotion No.1 to the new-build P2 Prince of Wales. Forged in Steam runs from 17 January to 5 April 2026.

Community Voices: Journeys is an exhibition by the Accrington-based charity Aawaz, working with women of South Asian heritage. Its goal is to help create equal and cohesive communities where women can feel a sense of belonging and play their part in the wider society. The exhibition features pieces created by the women of Aawaz, working with clay, textiles and calligraphy, talking about their journey to the UK and their life before and after that journey.
