Formentor Lighthouse, or Far de Formentor, is an active lighthouse on the Spanish island of Majorca. It is the highest lighthouse in the Balearic Islands, standing 210 meters above sea level on high cliffs at the tip of Cap de Formentor. Built in 1863, it is the fifth tallest lighthouse in Spain. The slender tower, a spindly sentry perched high in the wind and the howling sea, is a timid beacon that skitters through the dark.
