El Palacio de la Capitanía General de Canarias

In Santa Cruz de Tenerife, El Palacio de la Capitanía General de Canarias stands as the headquarters of the archipelago's command, playing host to the Archivo Intermedio Militar de Canarias.

El Palacio de la Capitanía General de Canarias, located in the city center of Santa Cruz de Tenerife and facing the Plaza Weyler, serves as the headquarters of the military of the archipelago. The palace also contains the Archivo Intermedio Militar de Canarias.

While the military command office has existed since 1589, Santa Cruz de Tenerife has been its seat since 1656, as both a city and a capital. The building's current location dates from 1881.

The building features iconography by Gumersindo Robayna, who also created the reliefs on the exterior fronton and the ornamentation of the gala dining room. The salon de actos, located in the noble part of the building, has an iconography that represents the escudos and symbols of each island of the archipelago, along with Castilla y León.

Every year, the Pascua Militar festival is held in this building, which was established in 1782 as an expression of joy for the recovery of the island of Menorca from the English. This festival is celebrated primarily by the military of the archipelago in the presence of the commander of the Military of Canarias.
