The Enchanted Lodge of Stars: The Masonic Temple of Santa Cruz de Tenerife

Once a beacon for masons from across the globe, unravel the spellbinding history behind the legendary Masonic Temple of Santa Cruz de Tenerife

Situated in the heart of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, the Enchanted Lodge of Stars stands as one of Spain's main Masonic temples and the first of its kind in the Canary Islands. Constructed between 1899 and 1902, it was designed to house the illustrious Añaza Lodge, the Canary Islands' most significant 20th-century Masonic lodge, which was founded on the magical date of August 8, 1895. The lodge grew in power and prestige, causing a transformation in Canary Island Masonry during the early part of the century.

Although no longer in operation, the enchanted lodge was once a fabled destination for masons from far and wide. For many years, the enchanted lodge functioned as the main seat for the Añaza Lodge. However, a dispute led to a division of the lodge into two: La Logia Añaza No. 270 and La Logia Añaza No. 1. La Logia Añaza No. 270 continued to reside in the Enchanted Lodge of Stars on San Lucas Street and under the Gran Oriente Español until 1936, when it was dissolved, and its treasures were seized by the rebels.
