Hidden inside a remote village in Triacastela, Galicia, Eirós Cave reveals Spain's prehistoric art. The cave, situated at the foot of mountain Oribio, is a natural wonder, the result of geological processes on limestone rock. But the cave's significance goes beyond geology: it houses materials dating back to the Middle and Superior Paleolithic ages. In 2012, the cave made headlines with its 30,000-year-old prehistoric paintings and rock engravings. These artifacts, thought to be from the Gravetian or Solutrean periods of the Upper Paleolithic, were the first archaeological find of cave art in Galicia.
