Once a power station supplying electricity to Madrid, CaixaForum Madrid now proudly stands as a symbol of the city's forward-thinking spirit. Constructed in the early 1900s, the building underwent a metamorphosis under Swiss architects Herzog & de Meuron, who transformed it into a cultural center. The physical transformation took place between 2001 and 2007, with Spanish builder Ferrovial overseeing the project. In 2008, CaixaForum Madrid opened its doors to exhibit contemporary art and host cultural events, breathing new life into the community it once provided power for. Today, CaixaForum Madrid stands adjacent to the vibrant Vertical Garden by Patrick Blanc, a striking contrast to the surrounding barren concrete.
