Bäckaby Old Church (Swedish: Bäckaby gamla kyrka)

The old wooden church, built in the 1320s, was once a beloved place for weddings and baptisms in Bäckaby. After it was purchased by a private person, it was moved to Jönköping and re-erected. But on the evening of 28 April 2000, the church was completely destroyed by a fire. After the fire, the church was re-erected in the town park in Jönköping on 31 August 1902. The cause of the fire remains uncertain, but it is believed to be an act of arson. The church's popularity, and the sense of loss felt by the community, led to a memorial being erected the following year.
