Assassination Scene: Serrano Street, Madrid

On 20 December 1973, [Luis Carrero Blanco](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luis_Carrero_Blanco), the [Prime Minister of Spain](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prime_Minister_of_Spain), was assassinated while traveling in a car along Serrano Street in Madrid's Salamanca district. This street, once bustling with activity, became the scene of a historical tragedy. After attending mass at the Church of San Francisco de Borja, Carrero Blanco was driving along Serrano Street when an explosive device hidden in a tunnel detonated, killing him instantly. The explosion also killed two others, making it the deadliest act against the [Francoist State](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Francoist_Spain) since the [Spanish Civil War](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spanish_Civil_War) ended in 1939 and causing widespread shock and political crisis.
