In the Lazdijai region, the enigmatic Paserninkai Hillfort lies hidden in Seirijų Seniority, Paserninkai Parish. Standing 15 meters high, it offers impressive sides reaching 8-9 meters in height. To reach it, you’ll need to turn off the main road 650 meters, around a sharp bend toward Mikabalia. First discovered in 1934 by the Historical Institute, the hillfort remains a testament to Lithuania’s ancient history, with its secrets yet to be unveiled. In 2005, the Lithuanian Culture Minister issued a decree, designating a 2.26-hectare memorial zone and a 14,000 square meter physical protection zone. The hillfort continues to be a significant archaeological site, awaiting further excavation and research to reveal its mysteries.
