The Eglynkalniu hillfort is situated near Bagateliai, in Lithuania's Lazdijai region. It is believed to have been constructed around the 1st century AD. The site covers an area of 228 meters in length and up to 166 meters in width, and it is located at a height. The southern part of the site contains the Eglynkalniu burial mound, which is set in a separate valley. This valley, measuring 5 meters high, 12 meters high on the east and west sides, 16 meters wide on the north and south sides, and up to 0.5 meters high on the north and south sides, contains a terrace 3 meters lower than the mound, 13 meters in width.
The area is currently farmland, with oak trees growing in the central mound. A historical marker of an archaeological discovery can be found in the central mound. The burial mound area, to the east and west, was once home to the papėdės gyvenvietė (excavated settlement). In 1972, the hillfort was declared a cultural monument of republican importance, in 1992 it was included in the List of Cultural and Historical Monuments of Lithuania, in 1997 it was registered in the Cultural Heritage Register of Archaeological Sites.
The cultural complex was declared a cultural monument in 1998. In 2004, it was included in the State System of Cultural and Historical Heritage Objects.
