A twist in the history of Brokind Castle

Tucked in the southern outskirts of Linköping, Brokind Castle stands as a striking embodiment of Swedish history. First recorded as a village in the Middle Ages, Brokind (originally Broo) passed through several hands before landing with the illustrious House of Bjälbo. It was the home of Bo Jonsson Grip, a powerful medieval noble who played a crucial role in Sweden's political landscape. In the centuries that ensued, ownership changed, but the estate belongs now to the Falkenberg family for close to four centuries. A medieval castle at Brokind burned down in 1726, and the present structure, constructed in 1727–1731, replaced it. Its exterior was later redesigned in 1838 according to the drawings of Abraham Bengtsson Nyström. Today, visitors can explore the beautifully preserved Brokind Castle, catching a glimpse of its colorful past.
