Sitting under the centuries-old trees in the Fontainebleau Forest, the Table du Grand Maître is more than just a simple table. Initiated by M. de la Faluère, the Grand Master of Waters and Forests of the Île-de-France, it was established in 1723. Originally, it served as a place for hunting parties to rest and have a meal. In the first half of the 20th century, it became the finish line for many French cyclo-cross championships. Despite being moved in 1950, it still stands today as an inscribed French historical monument, a witness to a past of rest and sport.
