Cryptic Swedish memorial on Gärdet: A 2.5-ton marble knot commemorating

Restare, located on Gärdet in Stockholm, is a short walk from Villa Källhagen. The memorial, measuring 10.2x18m, was created by sculptor Monika Larsen Dennis and inaugurated on Veterans Day 2013 in the presence of Carl XVI Gustaf. The memorial, known as a site for future celebrations of Veterans Day in Stockholm, stands as a complex monument to veterans from foreign service under the Swedish Armed Forces and international peacekeeping work, with a mysterious connection yet to be specified. The platform ends towards Djurgårdsbrunnsviken with three steps. On the platform, there is an intarsia of 10 millimeter wide rust-free steel bands forming a mandala pattern. The central sculpture is a 2 meter high white marble statue in the form of a thin knot, symbolizing the intertwined histories of the Swedish Armed Forces and the international peacekeeping work they have been involved in.
