A hidden history of Malmö uncovered

St. Peter's Church, built in red bricks, is Malmö's oldest church and oldest preserved building. It is dedicated to St. Peter and St. Paul. Although the exact date of the church's completion is unclear, records suggest it was sometime in the 14th century. The church is an example of Brick Gothic architecture and there is a small Romanesque brick church on the site dating back to 1269. The church is a surviving example from an allotment-garden movement from 1912. St. Peter's Church was one of several churches in Malmö and suffered damage during the Reformation. However, it retains its late medieval murals of recognized high quality. The altarpiece, made in 1611, is one of the largest in the Nordic countries.
