A fortification from the past overlooking a historic divide

Skansberget, in the Björnlunda area, is an ancient fortification. Strategically placed on a high ground, it overlooked the nearby region. The land around Skansberget was separated from another area with waterways leading to Södermanland in the past. Once upon a time, a ford likely connected the lake to the forests, serving as a waterway to the Södermanland region. Today, you can see this historical divide as the two areas now exist as separate parts. Skansberget was built during the Iron Age, making it around 2,000 years old. The area around Skansberget is also home to ancient grave rösen, making it an important archaeological site for visitors to explore.
