A Journey Through Time: Discover the History of the Val d'Aran at the Museum

Step back in time and experience the unique history, art, and ethnography of the Val d'Aran at the Musèu dera Val d'Aran.

The Musèu dera Val d'Aran is a museum dedicated to the history, art, ethnography, and ethnology of the Val d'Aran. It is located in Vielha, spread across three different buildings: Tor deth Generau Martinhon, Casa Joanchiquet de Vilamòs, and the church of Sant Joan d'Arties. It was established in 1983, after an agreement between various town halls of the Val d'Aran, the Diocese of Urgell, the Department of Culture of the Generalitat of Catalonia, and the Fondacion Musèu Etnologic dera Val d'Aran.

Initially planned as an ecomuseum, it integrated into the Xarxa de Museus Etnològics de Catalunya in 2008. Its collection includes various artifacts from the region, grouped into eight sections: Era cunhèra dera Garona, Era conquista dera monthana, De Nacion Occitana, Un país de frontèra, Era petita republica, Un poble de pagesi e de pastors, Eth temps des centraus, and Era val der òr blanc. The museum was updated in 2006, and its current project is being updated to adapt to the needs of modern visitors.
