Sister to the more famous towns, the hamlet of Can Blai on Formentera Island keeps a secret deep beneath its soil. From the road before Mola, the dirt trail winds to a hill where the earth itself seems to tremble. At its heart lie the remnants of a building that time has nearly swallowed. The site, known as the Castellum of Can Blai and also claimed by Can Pins, was excavated in 1979 and 1980 and found to be a fortress built in the Roman Empire's waning days. Today, it stands as a testament to the island’s forgotten past and a reminder of the history that lies just out of sight. Situated within the parish of Sant Ferran de ses Roques and located along the Savina to Mola path at the 10th kilometer, this fortress was destined to protect, but it remains undiscovered.
