Forgotten Punic Necropolis Beneath Ibiza's Puig des Molins Museum

The Puig des Molins, an archaeological museum in Ibiza Town, hides a millennia-old secret beneath its current facade – a Punic necropolis from the 7th century BC. Originally covering approximately 10,000 square meters, the necropolis is now contained within 5 hectares. The cemetery, founded by the Phoenicians, was also used by the Romans. The museum, which opened in 1966, is state-owned and reopened in 2012 after a €6 million investment.
