A thousand years on a sheer cliff: The Veršvai hillfort transforming Kaunas'

The Veršvai hillfort, located in Veršvai, Kauno rajono savivaldybės territory, stands 220 meters from the left bank of the Nemunas River. Its history spans over a thousand years, from the 1st Millennium BCE to the 14th century, as shown by the excavations in 1986 and 1997. The settlement found at Veršvai hillfort covered an area of 1.5 hectares and contained floor remnants, pottery, and portable finds such as iron nails, flint, bone, and ceramic fragments.
