The unique chapel in the sky of Durro

Sant Quirc de Durro, an isolated chapel, is situated atop the village of Durro, in the Vall de Boí, a valley located in Alta Ribagorça comarca in the north of Lleida province and the autonomous communities of Catalonia in Spain. It is one of the most well-known Roman heritage sites in the valley and since November 2000, it has been part of the UNESCO World Heritage site with eight other Catalan Romanesque Churches of the Vall de Boí. Situated at an altitude of 1498m, the chapel offers a vast landscape closing in by the massifs of Comaloforno and Besiberri. The chapel houses the antependium, a major work of art of Catalan Romanesque painting, representing the martyrdom of St. Cyr of Tarse, a child saint, and his mother St. Julietta.
