The towering symbol of the 31st World Trobada of Penyes Barcelonistes

The Monument de la XXXI trobada de penyes barcelonistes stands tall over Plaça de les Germanetes Ocaña in L’Hospitalet de Llobregat. A public academicist sculpture, it is included in both the Diputació de Barcelona’s Cultural Heritage Map and Catalonia’s Monuments Commemorative Map. Created by sculptor Alfredo Sánchez for the XXXI World Trobada of Penyes Barcelonistes held on 5th April 2006, the monument consists of a lower wooden part and an upper part made of engraved stone. The wood for the monument was salvaged from the old Les Corts stadium. Jose Maria Bassols Tena retrieved the end-of-life factory's wood, which he later used in his Teià factory. Upon dismantling his factory, the Bassols family donated these pieces to sculptor Alfredo Sánchez.
