In the very heart of Nancy, France, lies The Porte Désilles, an remnant of yore, still standing tall after it was commissioned between 1782 and 1784, under the orders of the Comte de Stainville, as the legend goes. It was initially christened the Porte Saint-Louis, but over time, took on its current moniker in honor of André Désilles. The tales say that this relic, cleverly planted to obscure the view at the end of Cours Léopold, instead offering a glimpse onto the Route de Metz, was erected as a somber commemoration to the Nancy citizens who perished during the Siege of Yorktown (1781).
