The Palazzo Pallavicini Cambiaso, located at No. 1 Via Garibaldi, is a building that bears witness to the rich history of the city. Constructed by Agostino Pallavicini in 1558, it was designed by Bernardino Cantone, who crafted an elegant ashlar facing of grey stone with a portal adorned with a bucrania frieze in Mannerist style. In the mid-18th century, the palace passed to the Cambiaso family. Among the palace's outstanding features are the Rape of the Sabine Women scene in the drawing room on the piano nobile and the Story of Cupid and Psyche in the great hall, both painted by the Genoese painters Andrea and Ottavio Semino.
This historically significant building was originally registered in the Rollo of 1577 and underwent a downgrade to the second category before returning to the first category in subsequent Rollo editions. Today, the palazzo is owned by a well-known banking institution.
