The Archaeological Monument on Juodkalnis Hill, Lithuania

Juodkalnis Hill, also known as Garbšių piliakalnis or Bažnyčios kalnas, is an important archaeological monument located near Sagardo Swamp in Lithuania. It features an oval fort, measuring approximately 80x15 meters. The hill ranges in height from 6–15 meters, with slopes leading down to Sagardo Swamp. Despite damage that erased cultural layers, particularly those from the late Iron Age – Early Middle Ages, the hill dates back to the 1st millennium AD. The current visible structure is a truncated cone-shaped mound, 2 meters high, found next to the hill. It is situated in the south of Garbšiai village.
