The Mudéjar Fortress Called Castle of Castilnovo Comes with a €17.61 Million

In Condado de Castilnovo, Spain, just an hour’s drive from Madrid’s glittering pulse and a whisper from Segovia’s UNESCO-spired skyline, **Castilnovo Castle** stands. Built in different stages, with its construction dating back to the 8th or 12th century, according to the source material, this medieval fortress has been a witness to eight centuries of secrets. Its initial construction was executed by the Arabs in mudejar style, with later additions by Christian owners.

The castle was enlarged by Álvaro de Luna and lived in by Ferdinand and Isabella during their travels through the country. It was declared Bien de Interés Cultural (National monument) on 3 June 1931.

The castle is conserved in good condition today and has a rectangular plan with six round and square towers. Through inheritance, it became the property of the Velasco family. It was the property of the Catholic Monarchs before the Velasco family inherited it.
